Valentyn Serdiuk

Legal analyst of the NGO “Center for Civil Liberties”

I work in the directions 1) European integration of Ukraine and 2) Overcoming the consequences of the war. In the context of the European integration project, my main activity is the study and implementation of European human rights standards into Ukrainian legislation, taking into account current changes in the practice of EU institutions, the ECHR, and the Court of Justice of the EU. In the second project, I am engaged in activities related to war crimes and crimes against humanity, researching the mechanisms for locating missing persons, both military and civilian, drafting legislative proposals to improve the national mechanism for their search, and monitoring human rights violations.

PhD student of the Department of International Law at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University. My scientific interest concerns the scientific research of the legal nature of international organizations, the responsibility of states and international organizations for internationally wrongful acts, upholding the fundamentality of the principles of the prohibition of the use of force and the threat of force and the prohibition of territorial acquisitions as a result of aggression as imperative norms of general international law jus cogens, which are of an erga omnes nature, as well as evolutionary approaches to the interpretation and understanding of the fundamental principles of modern international law based on common sense.
